The things team, part of USE in the ICON group at Fraunhofer FIT, works on designing ubiquitous computing solutions for real world scenarios. We understand our task as a creative endeavor that poses delicate ethical questions to be answered by a bridge of empathy between users and designers.
We do research to inform our design
We explore practices to find cracks and openings where to drop seeds of technology that could move behaviour and artifacts to evolve together into a new socio-technical stage of evolution.
We inform our research with design
We are interested in the integration of technology into everyday practices. Ethnography, triggering artifacts and design probes help us to observe and understand the complex relationship between users and technology.
